St. Regis is a small university-style school whose goal is to deliver an entire grade of students to post-secondary each year. Achieving this objective would be impractical if our resources were spread thin among a larger student body. Therefore, we enforce a stringent population cap of 120 students and typically accept approximately 30 applicants annually spanning grades 8 through 11. We specialize in operating smaller classes which allows teachers and school counsellors to provide a much higher level of academic, social, and emotional support. This focused approach ensures that each student receives personalized support, nurturing their growth and development as they progress towards their post-secondary aspirations.

Our school mainly serves the educational needs of local students. Only 20% of our students are international. We define international students as students who are not eligible for federal or provincial government funding.

The St. Regis School Authority was originally founded in 2009. Its initial goal was to explore ways to promote greater access to quality, equal and sustainable opportunities in education. With increasing resources and support obtained from our community partners, St. Regis was able to transform its educational model to the university-style high school model in 2017.

At St. Regis, your child will have many teachers to guide their development with different angles and approaches. Your child will be taught by our team of experienced certified teachers, as well as by scholars and experts from our community partners. 

This means that St. Regis students will complete first year university credits under the guidance of university professors who teach the same courses in St. Mark’s College and/or UBC. They will delve into topics such as international politics, national security, and defense technology, receiving instruction from officers and experts within the Canadian Armed Forces. Additionally, our students will gain deeper insights into various academic fields and potential career pathways from scholars across Canada. Moreover, our students will benefit from the guidance and support of AMS/UBC club leaders and coaches, ensuring that their time at St. Regis is both enriching and enjoyable.

There are two types of courses that are offered at St. Regis.

Grade 8-12 High School Credit Courses

As required by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care, St. Regis learned from the New BC Curriculum. Individual courses are developed under Ministry guidelines by certified St. Regis teachers with relevant specializing degrees. Furthermore, under the framework of the Joint-Curricula Development Program, UBC professors and scholars from other renowned academic institutions also strengthen the development of our courses by enhancing their quality and depth.

First-Year Advance University Credit Courses

Permitted by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, Grade 11 and 12 St. Regis students are able to select first-year university courses that are recognized and transferable to any Canadian and US universities. The courses are taught directly by university professors with the same curricula.

With many educational resources granted by our school’s strategic partnerships, St. Regis’ programs extend far beyond the conventional classroom. While still in high school, your child will experience university-style learning through seminars, events, workshops, outdoor education, extracurricular opportunities, and club activities.

You can count on the help of our teachers and school counsellors to address the progress, needs, and experiences of your child at St. Regis school. 

Our school counsellors and teachers facilitate regular faculty meetings every Monday. These meetings are dedicated to discussing student-related issues such as absence, homework submission and behavioral concerns. Once an issue is discovered, our student counsellors will take the initiative to reach out to parents via email to ensure that parents are notified about their children’s progress in a timely manner.

Each semester, our school counsellors also host two online or face-to-face meetings with parents known as the University Placement Meetings. These meetings present an opportunity not only for parents and school counsellors to connect and discuss student progress and concerns, but also to make and adjust the students’ Customized University Placement Plan.

Our main education program and after-school extracurricular program take place in the beautiful campus of UBC. Different classes and activities take place across different buildings within the University campus. This setting provides our school and our students with convenient access to the University’s unparallel educational resources. Furthermore, the University’s liberal and scholarly atmosphere also enables our students to learn and feel how their university life would be like in the future.

B. Wait for an email from the admission officer to arrange a meeting.

C. Participate in the Initial and Enrollment meetings and the school tour.

D. Complete and submit all documents listed in the Register For Entry section of our school website.

You should apply as soon as you have made up your mind to join the St. Regis family, as seating is competitive and limited. Your child can begin studying at St. Regis at the beginning of the first semester in September or the beginning of the second semester in February.
