Home / Community – Approach towards Education
We at St. Regis believe in our community. We rely on the resources and expertise of our community to support our school in providing our children with a well-rounded education.
Our education program surpasses the limitations of the traditional high school model, which restricts learning to a predetermined curriculum and requires that information be taught exclusively by high school teachers. As a university-style high school, we excel in education outside these boundaries.
With the support of our community, we hope to extend our students’ horizons and spark their intellectual curiosity In order to encourage the pursuit of in -depth knowledge.
Learning in St. Regis is facilitated not only by our regular faculty members, but more significantly, by scholars and experts in academia, government, and leading industries. This is made possible by St Regis Secondary School’s strategic connections with numerous institutions and government agencies.
Through our Running-Up Strategic Partnership Program with St. Mark’s College, the university’s affiliated school of theology at UBC, our senior students are eligible to take first-year university courses in their grade 11 and 12 years, like the AP and IB programs. Our program’s classes are taught by university professors on the UBC campus, giving our kids their first-hand introduction to a university environment at a young age. It shortens the time it takes for students to graduate, helps them identify their areas of interest, and significantly improves their university application profiles. Moreover, the majority of prestigious universities in the U.S and Canada, including UBC and U of T, accept the credits earned from this program.
Ultimately, our educational curriculum is enhanced by the UBC community. By incorporating materials and instructional strategies from existing UBC courses, our Joint Curriculum Development Program allows us to work with university professors to improve the calibre and scope of our core high school courses. Through the University Lecture Series, UBC academics from various faculties frequently offer our students exclusive lectures on a wide variety of topics. These topics range from the nature and applications of a particular academic discipline to enrollment requirements and future career opportunities. The UBC Solar Club, UBC Biological Science Society, UBC Music Productions Club, and UBC Fencing Club are just a few of the over twenty UBC departmental and AMS student clubs that our students can actively participate in through our UBC Society-AMS Clubs Extracurricular Series.
Furthermore, through our “St. Regis-Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Educational Partnership Program,” students have the opportunity to engage in direct lectures with officers from all three branches of the CAF. Additionally, information sessions and support are provided to help students enroll in CAF educational opportunities, including the Indigenous Peoples Summer Training Program and the Canadian Cadet Program. These activities foster our kids’ sense of discipline, self-respect, and responsibility while also advancing their mental and physical growth.
